DEFINING A MOVEMENT
i'm a plum
i'm a plum.
It’s a simple little sentence, but it packs quite a punch.
It means I am part of a movement to be honored for who I am now. Not who I was when I had a smoother face, a smaller waist, or shinier hair. I have lived, and I am still ripe with potential.
I am juicy, I am wise, and I am full of wonder.
I am not a shriveled prune in need of additives or preservatives.
I’m a Plum and I know my worth.
In the space between "young woman" and "old lady" lives... Midlife? Mature? Menopausal? Cougar? Frankly, we find all of these names uninspiring, unrepresentative, or downright insulting. As women in their 40's, 50's and 60's increasingly remain vibrant and healthy, and continue to grow and achieve, we think it's time for a label that reflects who we actually are.
1. A woman aged 45+ amidst a comprehensive life transition, who, contrary to societal prejudice and misconception, remains, if not becomes more, vibrant, active, relevant, wise, and vital.
2. A woman who is increasingly capable of cultivating a life of purposeful growth, meaningful contribution, and continued love and connection, often as a result of reduced childcare burdens and wisdom gained from lived experiences across diverse contexts.
"I am a plum" is at once a celebration of who we are and defiance against any person, organization or prejudice that tries to discard, dismiss, or push to the margins the powerful women we know ourselves to be.
